Field Week 13: Problem Based Learning Progress Report

Week 13 Problem Based Learning Progress Report

All in all, this week was interesting. Between the field, projects, and my own health concerns (TLDR: chest pains and dizziness landed me in the ER, unknown cause still but nothing serious they say), this week was a hoot.

In the field, we’re wrapping up the last chapter before break. The students have been working on triangle proofs, took a quiz, and are now on their study guide. The test will be this upcoming Monday, leaving Tuesday as a free day. I was able to help a few students this week with the IXL, which was actually very rewarding. The one student I was working with started not knowing the difference between the symbols for angle, triangle, and segment to being able to complete a proof on their own! Also this week, I was able to start my assessment project for my methods course; I added a problem to their quiz and now I have to give feedback and reflect on the process.

Speaking of projects, wow is this a hectic week. I had my micro teaching demonstration in my methods class Thursday, had a 10 page paper due Thursday (in which I wrote about the impact of being gifted/gifted education on mental health), I have my unit plan due Tuesday along with my assessment project due Tuesday. Due to the vast amount of assignments everyone has this week, our group has decided to push recording the podcast back until after break. We have all conducted our interviews and have notes, it’s just a matter of writing a brief outline and recording it. This will be done the Monday or Tuesday we come back. Until then, this weekend will be filled with finalizing unit plans, writing, packing, and more writing. Over break I plan on updating my website and adding my lessons and such to it.

Also, it is worth mentioning about the whole chest pain situation, I am okay. It just took up over 6 hours of my evening Tuesday so that was just really fun with everything due. But, it was worth it to know I wasn’t having a heart attack or anything serious. The pain comes and goes, but the dizziness was the concerning part. On the bright side, when I got back that night I finished The Prisoner of Azkaban! I figured it was in my best interest to rest so it was a #HarryPotterMovieMarathon

Anywho, that’s about the gist of this week. Until next time!
